It was the fall 2006 semester at ERAU. The sun was shining and the school was buzzing with new freshman trying to find their classes and returning students swapping summer stories. Rachael was getting acquainted to the new college life, and Alex was reconnecting with old friends. Little did we know that in a few short weeks we would be meeting. Alex had one year of memories and accomplishments behind him and was picking up where he left off. Rachael was looking for some new and exciting chances to get involved. The rifle team was where we both chose to get involved. As a rifle team, we all began to grow bonds and were hanging out countless hours a week. As weeks of blood, sweat, and tears seemed to fly by, we began to hang out together more and more.

Then one cold late November evening, we were hanging out in the dorms with all the guys like usual. We were watching movies and hanging out. The last movie ended and we were flipping through to see what movie we would watch next. As we flipped through, we both spotted Forest Gump and plunked it in. We both knew the movie by heart and were practically quoting the whole movie together. At that point we both looked at each other and laughed. In those short moments we had fallen for each other. We grew closer and closer as the weeks went by. The weeks turned into months and the months turned into years. We have been together for three great and magical years. We have shared many memories together through school, clubs, and hanging out with friends and family. We have seen the beauty of God together, the magical lights of cities, and the peaceful serenity of the starry skies at night.

On Jan 11, 2009, we went flying over the Grand Canyon and made it official when Alex proposed. Through the triumphs and adversity, we have been there for each other and we can't wait to be there for each other for the rest of our lives.
